When I had the opportunity to try for the first time the intense pulsed light to remove unwanted hair, I was a bit skeptical, I must admit. But also very curious. I started a month and a half ago the treatment with Comfort Philips Lumea, which lasts 51 days, on two very different areas: Leg and groin.
Hair on legs are weak and sparse because they have been treated for years with an epilator. In the groin area, however, my skin is fragile and bleeds easily: Here I've always used depilatory cream alternated with my husband's razor (!). The effect is that in the same bulb grow, unfortunately, two hairs.
For my skin type, clear with dark hair, I had to use one of the strongest intensity (the fourth of five), which initially caused me burning problems in the groin area. But it has never created redness, just ad uncomfortable feeling. However I went on like that and after a few treatments I could not feel anything.
The pulsed light comes out with great intesity, Lumea should be placed perpendicularly on the treated area. Below, attention, the hair must have been shaved before. The first five treatments are done every other day, then every six others.
It was the right choice, because, unlike in the past, I have not bled. In addition, the re-growth has practically stopped. I guess that new hair will come out, but very late and very weak.
That's why I'm happy: I went on vacation for the first time in my life without being worried about hair removal :)
Warning: The IPL is particularly suitable for people with light skin and dark hair because it destroys the melanin in the hair. Moles should be protected with a plaster. You can use it on your armpits, but for now I prefer not to do so beacause I don't want to interfere with the lymphatic system below. In return, I decided that now I'll begin to treat the area above the lips :)
